UAB Coetus implemented project: Development of Earth Observation Algorithms and Experimental Activities and Market Introduction of Services Using Remote Sensing Tools and Artificial Intelligence
From June 17, 2024, to June 17, 2026, UAB “Coetus” is implementing the project “Development of Earth Observation Algorithms and Experimental Activities and Market Introduction of Services Using Remote Sensing Tools and Artificial Intelligence” under the “InoPažanga” call for proposals.
Optical satellite earth observation services are expensive and inaccessible to users. The European Space Agency’s Copernicus project and Sentinel satellites enable scientists to obtain primary earth observation data at very low costs, which are used by scientists and businesses to develop algorithms and services for earth observation. This project aims to address the issues of agricultural and forest land by monitoring the Earth’s surface and providing services to users. The project will address the following tasks: develop an algorithm to assess crop lodging during storms and subsequent recovery using remote sensing tools, create an algorithm to distinguish perennial meadows, determine their conservation value, and monitor their ecological condition in agricultural land using remote sensing tools, develop an algorithm to monitor the application of long-term environmentally friendly and carbon-sequestering agricultural practices using remote sensing tools, implement an information service to determine waterlogging in agricultural land and assess the condition of drainage systems using remote sensing tools, implement an information service to identify and evaluate wildlife damage to agricultural crops in mosaic landscapes of agricultural and natural elements, implement an information service for monitoring forest clear-cutting and regeneration processes, implement an information service for detailed forest inventory and digitization using remote sensing tools and artificial intelligence algorithms.
The project’s goal is to increase the productivity of agricultural production and wood production, and to reduce the negative impact of climate change, extreme natural phenomena, and wildlife on agricultural land, while preserving the biodiversity of the most valuable ecological complexes of agricultural and forest land, and developing new farming strategies and practices that enhance the resilience of Lithuania’s agricultural and forestry sectors to climate change.
UAB “Coetus” provides earth observation services. Earth observation using artificial satellites involves remote sensing, which gathers data or knowledge about an object without direct contact. UAB “Coetus” can monitor any object on the Earth’s surface, but this requires developing algorithms that, once refined using artificial intelligence, open data, and other technologies, can be commercialized.
Project budget: 1 272 667 EUR.

The project is Co-funded by the European Union.
Funding amount: 717 922 EUR.
